I have been blogging for 6 MONTHS now, and it is crazy to think about all that has happened in that time! I am so thankful for all of y’all, and it means so much to me to be able to find such meaningful connections in such a wonderful community!
Since there are always new people visiting this site or my other social media like Instagram, I would like to make a more official introduction as the creative producer behind She Laughs and @adelia.lauren! So, here is a little more about me that you may or may not know!
Ok here’s the big shocker! Adelia Lauren is NOT my name, at least not yet. Growing up I went by my given name, Lauren Robertson, and I never really felt like “Lauren.” I always wanted to be as unique and memorable as possible, so a popular name like Lauren did not fit that ideal. At times, I tried adopting nicknames as a form of re-inventing myself, but nothing really stuck. As I prepared for college, I made it my mission to change how I identify, and I chose my middle name, Adelia, to help me begin this transition. Adelia is a family name, but it is also extremely rare (I’ve only ever met one other person with the name), so it means a lot to me to be the only Adelia someone may know.
As for my last name, I recently decided to go by Adelia Lauren with the launch of the blog, and in the future I plan to make this change official!
I rarely share my family online, but I will say that my background has certainly created unique situations in my personal and professional life. For reference, I come from a family of televangelists and this fact remains in the back of my mind as I develop my own brand as a blogger and influencer.
The Traveling Child
Whenever I am asked for a fun fact, I always mention that I grew up overseas in the Philippines! My brother and I were born in Manila and we lived there a total of five years with our older sister. I spoke Tagalog as my first language before moving to the United States and expanding my education in English. In my adolescence I spent plenty of time traveling around, visiting the Philippines, exploring the US, Canada, and Mexico, and flying overseas to Turkey, Israel, France, and Italy. I sometimes joke that my childhood passports look cooler than my current ones!
The Activist and Advocate
I have been extremely open about this part of my life, and have actually shared this story in another blog post you can visit here. Essentially, I am a recovered bulimic and this experience is the reason why I am so passionate about confidence, positive self-image, and good health.
The Busy Student
I am currently a full-time college student studying Premedical Studies, Philosophy, and French! I have many interests, and I have chosen to entertain all of them while I have the time!
Speaking of interests, I love to maintain many hobbies. Currently, my main hobby is my blog and instagram page, but I also love ballet (I danced for 13 years and I still take classes now), photography, fashion, beauty, home design, and of course, travel!
Thank you all for reading! If anything surprised you, let me know!
